        Location:  In Central Colorado, 21 miles west of Salida on US Highway 50 at Monarch Pass. 47 miles east of Gunnison via US 50.  157 miles southwest of Denver via US 285 south & Highway 50 west; 117 miles west of Colorado Springs via CO 115 south & US 50 west; or CO 24 west, US 285 south & US 50 west.  From Grand Junction:  190 miles via US 50 east.

      Season:  Mid-November to mid-April.

      Lift Hours:  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

      Elevation:  Base is 10,790 feet,   Summit, 11,961 feet.

      Vertical Drop:  1,171 feet

      Chairlifts:  4 double chairs

      Uphill Capacity:  4,500 skiers or snowboarders per hour.

      Terrain: 670 acres. 900 backcountry acres accessed by Monarch Snowcat Tours.

      Trails:  54 Trails. 21% beginner, 37% intermediate, 42% advanced.

      Longest Run:  2 miles

      Annual Snowfall:  350+ inches

      Snowmaking:  None.  All-natural.

      Snowboarding:  Welcome. No trail restrictions. Ricochet Terrain Park accessed by Garfield Lift offers slides, tabletops, big airs, jumps.

      Snowcat Tours: Monarch Snowcat Tours gives powderhounds an opportunity to power through over 900 acres of adventure skiing and snowboarding.  Full-day tours include lunch.

      Racing:  NASTAR races scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

      Children's Programs:  Children's center for children 2 months to 6 years old, with daycare facility.

      Ski & Snowboard School:  Certified instruction and member of PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America).  Emphasis on introducing new skiers to the sport.  Programs for all ages and abilities.  Lessons are available in 2 and 4 hour group formats.  Private lessons also available.

      Rentals: Complete rental equipment available for alpine, telemark and snowboarding needs.

      Lodging:  Monarch Mountain Lodge, located three miles east of the area on US Hwy 50 has the closest overnight accommodations to Monarch Ski & Snowboard Area.  100 rooms, restaurant & lounge, indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, gift shop, workout center.  Nearby snowmobile rentals, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails.
